About the Event
The importance of women’s land rights goes to the very heart of poverty alleviation. We know that the majority of the world’s poorest people live in rural areas, where families rely on agriculture. Land is their primary source of their nutrition, income, status, and potential for upward mobility. We also know that women are responsible for 60-80% of the agricultural production in the world, yet women still own less than 5% of the world’s titled land. We know that land rights help women begin a progressive cycle of growth out of poverty beginning with pride, status and hope, and building to benefits of nutrition, income, health, educational opportunities and security—not for just the family, but the community, region and nation. The long-term outcomes of this growth are social, economic and political stability.
This event was inspired by the enthusiastic support that we have received from the global community on this issue. We look forward to having you join us!
